This is Not a product you can buy, this is an information page covering discontinued hatch systems.
This Dagger Hurricane Hatch Cover Information Page covers some kayaks made by Dagger, such as the Dagger Apostle was made 1995-1998 and the Dagger Magellan made 1997-2002, plus other Dagger kayaks.
The Dagger Apostle (and to some degree the Magellan and others) are odd kayaks that were apparently molded for 3 different types of hatch system and or combinations of hatch cover systems such as; Rubber Hatch Covers, Double Covers and Hurricane Hatch Covers. I am not sure why. Little is truly known today about these Hatch Systems and what the folks at Dagger were aiming for. Yes, this is odd, but this issue has been researched carefully by our staff. Consult with Dagger Customer service as needed. Please expect to play a game of Cinderella’s Slipper when it comes to replacement of Dagger Hurricane Hatches and their variations.

This style of hatch cover is represented in the TopKayaker archives as the Dagger-Mainstram-Perception Hatch Info Page (all sister companies), including the Dagger Archive Catalogs. The Apostle is listed in the 1997 catalog as being outfitted with Sure-Seal Rubber Hatch Covers. The photo in that 1997 catalog shows what appear to be hard covers, with straps. While this may be a recycled photo from a previous year, some other evidence indicates that Dagger may have used rubber covers under the hard covers.
Try these on their own, or maybe under hard covers (read the product descriptions fully):
Kajak Sport Round Hatch Cover 20cm Fits a raised hatch rim lip 8 1/4 inches outside diameter.
Kajak Sport Round Hatch Cover 24cm Fits a raised hatch rim lip 10 inches outside diameter.
Kajak Sport Oval Hatch Cover 42x30cm Fits a raised hatch Rim Lip 17 5/8 by 12 7/8 inches O.D.
And... Dagger Oval Hatch Cover Inside dimensions of cover is 11 inches wide by 16.5 inches long. Should fit a rim a tiny bit larger than that. The Dagger Round Hatch Cover Should fit a 10 inch rim.
Rubber Covers do not require a hard outer cover on top.
Double Hatch Covers, Related Article: Hatch Replacement Part III - Double Covers: Neoprene Inner - Outer Hard Covers
The 1995, 1996 and 1998 Dagger catalogs indicates the Dagger Apostle is outfitted with double hatch system; Neoprene Fabric Inner Covers with hard outer covers on top.
Try these as part of a Double Cover System (read the product descriptions fully):
8 in. Round Emergency Neoprene Hatch Cover fits the day hatch of the Dagger Apostle, or any 8 inch O.D. round rim.
10 in. Round Emergency Neoprene Hatch Cover Fits a hatch rim lip approximately 10 inches O.D.
Dagger Apostle Neoprene Cover Stern fits a hatch rim lip approximately 16.25 x 12 inches O.D. (Please Note! we can only assume that this stern cover will also fit the Magellan. We have not proven, nor dis-proved that notion yet.)
Use of these neoprene fabric hatch covers, emergency or otherwise, WITH an outer hard will make the kayak safe again. An incomplete hatch system will not be considered safe.
Dagger Hurricane Hatch Covers (as shown at the top of this page):
Dagger had what was called Hurricane Hatch Covers on some of their 21st century kayaks. The first evidence of the Hurricane Hatch shows up in the 2000 catalog (Dagger Crossover kayak), past the production date of the Apostle, but the archival information at TopKayaker evidence indicates something like a Hurricane Hatch was used on the Apostle. We call a hard hatch with gasket a Strap Over Cover. The hard plastic molded Hurricane Hatches are all now discontinued, but gaskets are still readily available as the Trim-Lok hatch gasket, Type C (by the foot).

If your plastic molded Hurricane Hatch is damaged try your best to repair it. Consider using G/flex 655 thickened epoxy. Rubber Covers do not require a hard outer cover on top. If you are missing plastic molded hard covers, and find you need them, the link below may guide you into building some new covers. I would suggest making a form and not a mold (unless you have an original sample to use as a mold blank). Use this link: Making A Fiberglass Hatch Mold
Please understand that is up to you to determine what is best to use as replacement part(s), AND then TEST your assumptions by tipping your kayak over in shallow water close to shore to check for water in the hull.
All kayaks leak a little! Expect this. The Drain Plug Info Page and Bulkhead and Hatch Seal Video will shed some light on the matter. The addition of the Sea Kayak Float Set, and a bilge pump on board, are recommended for older kayaks.
Notes:
It is best to restore the kayak using original parts as much as is possible. As needed try the other options on this page.
You will have to make your best guess on what you remember the kayak was outfitted with. It is likely you will play Cinderella’s Slipper to see what will fit. Send back those items that do not work for you (read the FAQ Page on this website for full details). Explore the other options in the Hatch category as needed.
If the Rubber Hatch Covers above will not fit you might have to retrofit with: 17-5/8 x 12-7/8 in. Hatch and Ring, Performance (Kajak 42x30), the 10 In. Hatch Lid and Ring, Performance (Kajak 24cm), and the 8 In. Hatch Lid and Ring, Performance (VCP round). Use the Contact Us link as needed about hatch rim and cover options and for more how-to info on a hatch transplant operation.
The Neoprene Fabric Inner Covers should be a near slam dunk for fit, but they MUST be used with outer hard covers to be truly safe for sea kayaking! Some evidence indicates that inner neoprene fabric hatch covers were used with plastic molded hard outer covers that were also sealed with the Type C hatch gasket (belt and suspenders?).
The Strap Over Style Hatches, sealed only with a gasket MUST fit very well for the gasket to seal against the hull. If they fit well, the gasket should seal out the water properly. The weather strip and or pipe insulation gaskets, as seen in Maintenance of Large Cargo Hatches, might allow for a greater fit tolerance for homemade hard covers (or difficult hatch covers) than the Type C gasket. The original Trim-Lok hatch gasket, Type C (by the foot) is considered to be the best option for authentic original Hurricane Hatch Covers.
