A Strap-Over Hatch Cover style consists of a cover secured in place with straps, bungee cord, rope or other type of tie-down. These covers and-or the hatch openings typically have gaskets that seal against water leakage, much like the weather stripping on a home or car door. A Latch Hatch Cover has one or more toggle handles to open or close the hatch cover. While some Deck Plates, such as Orbix Hatches, also have a toggle handle the hatch covers in this category cannot be described as Deck Plates. A hinge is common on many, but not all, Latch Hatches.
