Replace old perimeter ropes, or add new. Static Deck Line is useful for a safety cord along each side of the kayak, use with rubber stoppers, to make a bow harness for anchoring and towing and can be used for all sorts of things like bow stern tie downs, anchor rope, tow lines and replacement parts. (This is not bungee shock cord.) Approximately 1/4 inch diameter, solid core braided.
Please Note! A Wilderness Systems Tempest (circa 2005) is outfitted with this cord, same diameter as Reflective 5mm Cord. Some Perception brand sea kayaks are reported be outfitted with Reflective 5mm Cord. Expect many kayaks made overseas, Europe mostly, to be outfitted with 4mm static cord.
Please measure the diameter of your old cord (or the deck fitting holes) carefully! If in doubt, the smaller diameter may be the better choice. Or, get both 4mm and 5mm, extra rope is handy to have on board.
