Best used as a replacement skeg slot frame for Current Designs kayaks. We do not not know what kayak model this is for. Assumed to be for the Gulfstream.
This Skeg Slot Frame is 17.5 inches in total length, 2.5 inches wide. The interior slot is 15.75 inches long, about .25 inch wide.
These are called Skeg Guards, but we are assuming that the purpose is not as a guard, but more as cover-up on the skeg slot as a finishing detail. Your kayak will perform well with, or without, this. CDSKEG
There are several installation methods use at the Current Designs factory:
Plastic Hull Kayaks: Warm up the skeg guard and then plastic weld it to the kayak hull. See Related Articles: TopKayaker Hull Repair, Perception Rotomold Kayak Repair and Ocean Kayak welding information.
Composite Hull Kayaks: Glued on with construction adhesive (Henry 212 Crystal Clear Sealant on late models or Kop-R-Lastic used on early models), it probably does not matter between these two.
We also know that some were glued and screwed, but we would expect screw holes, possibly drilled or molded, we do not know.
