Best used as a replacement aftermarket retrofit part to address the discontinued rudder part for kayaks that are outfitted with a Short Pin Rudder. See the Smart Track Video to shed some light on the matter.
Use as a replacement part for the central block and pin in a Classic Current Designs brand rudder assembly, circa year 2000, give or take a few years. Some classic Current Designs plastic hull kayaks may take a Mid Pin rudder assembly, that may be better described as medium-long.
Inspect your rudder head and replace the Rudder Rope Guide as needed.
Overall length, including pin, is 3 1/4 inches long. Pin is 3/8 inch diameter, 2 1/16 inches exposed. Block is 5/8 inches thick where screws pass through. The block is made to accommodate a set screw and has a footprint base that is 2 inches wide, 2 1/4 front to back. There are three screw holes in a line and a slot for the lifting rope machined into the block. You will have to disassemble your rudder and reassemble it without instructions, but it is easy to do.
This is a good option is to restore some, but not all, Short Pin style rudder assemblies. This is not a match to the Feather Craft Rudder Block and Pin. RBAP STRDR
