Best used as a replacement aftermarket retrofit part to address the discontinued seat cover for Wilderness Systems kayaks, common in some narrow touring kayaks, such as the Piccolo, Tchaika and Shenai, that were outfitted with the older SMALL version seat common on kayaks made before 2003. (WS Shaman may be outfitted with small or large.) Strip off the old cover and replace with a new cover! Apply this new padded fabric cover to the underlying black plastic seat assembly. Re-use your old side straps or replace with new (included!). It is imperative that your seat structure is fully functional for this to new cover to work properly. Inspect the seat assembly and look for cracks in the body, cracks in the back, missing parts, as well as damage to the hinge that joins the back to the bottom. The discontinued P-2 Hinge Set can be fabricated with simple materials, washers and rivets. If there is a problem with the seat assembly contact us for options.
This seat cover comes with a new adjustment straps and push rivets. Some older Wilderness Systems seats may have utilized Velcro rather than push rivets. It is easy to drill new holes for the push rivets into the seat structure, but do be careful not to drill too far. Velcro can be sourced at a craft store if you prefer. Adjustment straps might have to be trimmed and screw holes melted (easy to do with scissors, heat strap ends with a flame, use hot awl for screw holes). Made of Sun Proof Sunbrella Fabric and High Quality Foam by MCB Designs (much better than the original). Color is black.
Made in USA.
This seat cover is made to the same specifications of the Small Version (see photo on right). The Push Rivet holes are approximately 10.5 inches on center. The Seat is approximately 13.5 inches wide by 26 inches in total length when laid out flat.
Look for the tag on the back of your original cover! This will fit all Small Tag WS Phase2 Seats, with or without a cup holder. The Large Version Phase2 Seat is nearly identical, but just a tiny bit bigger. Use the Large P-2 Seat if your kayak is outfitted with a seat that has the Large Tag common in some wide kayaks. Look for the tag on the back of your original cover!
