This info applies to the old style Keepers rudder foot controls common on Perception and Aquaterra kayaks outfitted with metal tracks and the older narrow foot plastic rails, circa 1990s - 2005. This information does NOT address the much older plastic tracks fitted with metal rails found on very old Aquaterra kayaks, circa 1980s.
This is a discontinued part. No More will be made or stocked.
The Classic Slider tracks allow the classic foot brace rails to slide forward and back, pulling the cables and thus controlling the angle of the rudder blade. Tracks are 15 9/16 inches long. Outer bolt holes are 14 5/8 inches on center. Classic slider tracks have a total of 4 bolt holes. Inner holes are 5 inches on center. Classic Slider Tracks are found on Perception and Aquaterra kayaks made before 2005. Some older style slide tracks may have 3 screw holes each. All these were secured with Rudder Foot Controls Screws.
Perception changed to a wider version of both the Keepers tracks and rails, circa 2005. New tracks and rails are not compatible with older version tracks and rails. The modern version Keepers Slider Tracks, pair and modern version Keepers Foot Brace Rails can be used together as replacement parts for older kayaks, but you will have to remove the original foot controls to do so. Old tracks can be difficult to remove due to corrosion. The classic foot brace rails may be hard to find in the future. It is possible to use modern version Keepers Foot Brace Rails on the older tracks if you shave the rails down to one inch wide. Email for more information on that.
The Keepers Foot Peg has not changed. Keeper5 and Keeper6 are made to the the same specifications. The real name is Keeper. The common name Keepers was coined when the Keeper5 came out and the 5 was misread as an S. ERBA
