All paddle-power boats, on the water from dusk to dawn, must have a hand held light as minimal equipment to signal their presence to other boaters. A waterproof flashlight or headlamp is best. In addition, an anchor light or deck lamp, (steady white light) located to the stern may be required (check your local regulations) for boats longer than 16 feet, or for desired for extra visibility. Red and Green Navigation Lights can further enhance your visibility and indicate your direction of travel to other boaters. A Strobe light (blinking white light) is for emergency use only. Any type of light is useful to have on board for circumstances when you may be caught unexpected after dark while still on the water. Please check your local boating regulations for your area.
