Add or replace a deck handle on your kayak. Sold as ONE single handle. Common on many kayak brands, such as Perception. Found on bow and stern, as well as the sides of sit-on-top kayaks and in cockpit centers of some sit-on kayaks. Rubber grip is 5 inches long. Webbing strap is 1 inch wide, 16 inches long with handle strap flat and unfolded.
This handle can fit any range of screw spacing. Use flat or with ends tucked under (as shown on the Bow-Stern-Side Handle page). Read the How To Info:
Use old handle as a guide if possible. Identify your screw hole space.
Trim off excess strap, leaving enough strap to make the D of the D-Shape handle.
Or... Trim, leaving enough to make a double thick end for the screw holes.
Melt the screw holes with a hot poker.

If you are replacing an old handle reuse your old screws and washers. For new installations where no handle has been before use screws, washers and nuts, if you can reach inside the kayak. For new installation of a handle, where you cannot reach inside, use two rivets and two ¾ in. stainless steel washers, per handle. Rivets, screws nuts and washers are available in our Hardware department.
If installing new, as side grips on a sit-on-top kayak, carefully find the center balance point before drilling any holes. Also check the location to make sure the handle is not in the way of your paddle stroke, or presents a problem during deep-water re-entry.

To prepare for screw removal apply some penetrating oil, such as PB Blaster Penetrating Oil in advance, particularly if exposed to salt water. Penetrating oil loosens corroded screws and nuts. Apply and repeat the application several times.
