Most kayaks have a grab handle on the bow and one on the stern. Typically they are toggle handles, a simple tube with a cord. More modern strap handles are screwed to the deck, in an arch with a rubber grip. This type of handle is also common on the side of a sit-on-top kayak as grab points for lifting the kayak solo.
