The Sea-Lect 17-5/8 x 12-7/8 in. Performance Oval Hatch Cover and Ring can be used as a retrofit rubber hatch kit. Same fit and size as the Kajak Sport 42x30cm Oval found on many kayak brands of kayak. The cover is made of dual density rubber (hard center, soft edges) and fits over the raised hatch rim opening like a Tupperware lid.
This is the best sea kayaker's option for replacement of poorly fitting Wilderness Systems oval hatch covers. This kit is equivalent to the Kajak Sport 42x30cm Hatch Kit by Harmony, pn 8025323, but does not include sealant and hardware. (Might not be suitable for a Tempest.) The hatch rim (aka ring) has a foot print of 18-3/8 x 13-5/8 inches. The opening is 16-1/2 x 11-3/4 inches I.D. The kit can be applied to any kayak with a flat deck space about 18-3/8 x 13-5/8 inches or more.
The cover alone can be used as a replacement for a lost cover for a kayak with the correct rim-lip size 17 5/8 by 12 7/8 inches O.D.
