So good it has been used as part of ACA instructor training workshops for the guys as well and we highly recommended it. Shelly is a cold water New England sea kayaker and in this book primarily addresses women paddlers of sit-inside kayaks for open water long distance. Sit-on-tops are mentioned but not treated here as long distance touring boats due to the wide, short designs the East Coast had been exposed to at the time this was written in 1998; however, the instruction offered is valuable to any kayaker. In 160 pages she provides solutions, advice and stories from other women kayakers. She covers surf, touring, gear, paddle strokes, navigation, paddling while pregnant and with disabilities.
Author: Shelly Johnson is highly respected in U.S.A. New England's seakayaker community as an instructor and writer. A registered Maine Guide & Certified by the ACA, she accomplished here a fresh perspective & an up-to-date presentation of techniques & equipment for the woman kayaker. Black & White Paperback 160 pages
