Perception Rudder Assembly common on Perception and Dagger kayaks made circa year 2015 to date. This Long Pin rudder assembly will mount onto a wide range of Perception and Dagger kayaks, dating back to the 1990s, as well as any other brands of kayak outfitted with a Long Pin, such as Old Town. Rudder Blade is plastic, approximately 3/16 inch thick, 21 inches long by 3 1/4 inches wide. Pin is 3 3/8 inches long, 3/8 inch diameter.
This rudder is made to take Rudder Cable Swivels and can be used with Rudder Cable (by the foot), Spectra Cord or Standard Rudder Cables (with eyes, might clip off the eyes). Cables on older models typically fasten with 10 - 32 screws and nuts, Clevis Pins and Rings and other options. When retrofitting older kayaks with this rudder it may be necessary to use plastic spacers (size unknown, tiny nylon tubes) to match the holes in the rudder wings to the smaller diameter screws, pins or shackles. Some, not all Perception kayaks, circa year 2000, may need a Rudder Pin Flange Set.
