4 mm Deck Rigging Line (sold by the foot)

Replace your old perimeter ropes, or add new. Commonly used as Necky, Old Town and Ocean Kayak Rudder Rope (about 20 feet). Static Deck Line is useful for a safety cord along each side of the kayak; make a bow harness for anchoring and towing or paddle park. Deck Line can be used for all sorts of things like bow stern tie downs for your car or as anchor rope. (This is not elastic bungee shock cord.)

Approximately 3/16 inch diameter, solid core braided. Common on British sea kayaks, Necky and Wilderness Systems brand touring kayaks. Same part as part number 9800468.

Please Note! A Wilderness Systems Tempest (circa 2005) is outfitted with Black 5mm Cord, same diameter as Reflective 5mm Cord. Some Perception brand sea kayaks are reported to be outfitted with Reflective 5mm Cord. Expect many kayaks made overseas, Europe mostly, to be outfitted with 4mm static cord.

Please measure the diameter of your old cord (or the deck fitting holes) carefully! If in doubt, the smaller diameter may be the better choice. Or, get both 4mm and 5mm, extra rope is handy to have on board.
