The Tandem Rudder Module is a supplemental kit that contains the components used to adapt a solo Rudder Kit, for solo paddling of a tandem recreational two-man kayak. (Otherwise you can only steer from the back seat.) This kit is fully compatible, regardless of model year, with rudder systems that utilize the Keepers Foot Controls with the Keeper Tracks.
The parts list includes extension straps and extra foot braces that allow you to control your rudder when paddling solo, from the center seat position, and then to switch back to tandem for steering from the rear. Instructions and mounting hardware is included.
The Tandem Rudder Module is compatible with the Wilderness Systems Pamlico Tandem Kayaks 135, 145, & 160. The Tandem Rudder Module is compatible with Perception Tandem Kayaks.
This kit can be used for many other brands of 2-man kayaks, including, but not limited to Dagger and Old Town. The discontinued kits specifically for these other brands were nearly identical.
This kit is fully compatible, regardless of model year, with rudder systems that utilize the Keepers Foot Controls with the Keeper Tracks, including the BTS Rudder System part number 8025413, Late Model Rudder Kits such as part number 8070026 and any other early rudder systems outfitted with the Keepers Foot Controls with the Keeper Tracks.
This kit is sold under two alternative part numbers 9801026 (listed for models 2013 and earlier) as well as 8023053 (listed for rudder kit 8070026). There is NO Difference. All the parts and hardware are exactly the same. The instruction pages are nearly the identical. One instruction page references a discontinued rudder kit, the other instruction page is apparently updated and does not address a rudder kit by part number. We will have digital copies of both on file, please ask as needed.
