Find Replacement Fins for Surf Kayaks and Wave Skis here at TopKayaker. We stock surf fins for the Perception 5-O, Islander’s LipStik and BigStik, the Wilderness Systems Kaos, as well as the Cobra Strike and ReVision. Recommended maintenance: Periodically take apart, clean and lubricate all hardware. Replace corroded metal parts and cracked fins before they become a problem.
Fins do not fit all kayaks universally. Know in advance what the make and model of your surf kayak is. You may also need to know approximately when the kayak was built. One can only add a fin to a kayak that was built to accept one.
Fins are also called Skegs. Some Fins mount with 2 screws that fit into nut-serts that are molded into the hull, commonly found on sit-on-top surf kayaks like the Edge 10 and those made by OBI (Ocean Boards International). Other fins are fitted into surfboard style skeg boxes bolted into the hull. They utilize a single screw and a threaded square plate called a Wave Ski Fin Screw Set. This type is common on wave skis and similar surf kayaks such as the Islander Lip Stick, Big Stick, the Shane Universal and Shane wave skis. Many wave ski type surf kayaks have a three skeg set-up with a single large fin in the center and two smaller fins off to each side.
