A large size tandem rudder assembly for two-man kayaks, might be used on some solo kayaks for kayak sailing.
Rudder blade is 23 inches long, 3 7/8 inches wide. The blade is plastic. Tiller wings and blade are made of anodized aluminum, plastic central block. Pivot pin is 3/8 in. diameter by 1 15/16 inches long. 1/4 inch must be exposed for the rudder pin ring, or used as a Bayonet Mount. It comes with a lift line preloaded into rudder body.
This rudder is made to take Rudder Cable Swivels and can be used with Rudder Cable (by the foot), Spectra Cord or Standard Rudder Cables (with eyes). Cables on older models typically fasten with 10 - 32 screws and nuts, Clevis Pins and Rings and other options. When retrofitting older kayaks with this rudder it may be necessary to use plastic spacers (tiny nylon tubes) to match the holes in the rudder wings to the smaller diameter screws, pins or shackles.
This rudder can be used as a replacement part for Wilderness Systems kayaks outfitted with the plastic BTS rudder bracket. The pin can fit into a bayont type molded rudder pin inset hole in the stern of a Wilderness Systems kayak. See the Bayonet Pin Detail Photo showing the original 2014 pin on the BTS version rudder.
