These hatch covers are discontinued and left here for reference. This page only addresses the hard outer hatch covers for a double cover system for Classic Composite Necky Kayaks of the 20th century and to some extent into the 21st century (2015 Necky Kayaks Catalog). The inner neoprene cover, hatch straps or ropes are necessary for the hatch to seal properly.

TKN-737-BOW.jpgThe Classic Necky Bow Hatch Cover measures 15.25 inches long by 12.5 inches at the widest. The cover is steeply peaked, 3 inches deep when measured from a flat surface. The shape can be described as a trapezoid. It is assumed that this cover fit many of the older Necky kayaks, circa 2000, such as the Arluk and the Pinta (not the Tofino tandem that takes a very similar hatch with a taller peak).

TKN-738-STERN.jpgThe Classic  Necky Stern Hatch Cover measures 18 inches long by 14 inches at the widest. (Some similar covers measure approximately 17.5 inches long by 14 inches at the widest.) The cover has gentle curvature, 1 3/8 inches deep when measured from a flat surface. The shape can be described as an oval, or almost but not quite trapezoid. It is assumed that this cover fit older Necky kayaks, circa 2000, such as the Arluk, Pinta and Tofino models.

NKY-01-1331-0852.jpgThe more modern Necky Amaruk with composite hull (Circa 21st century) was outfitted with similar hatch covers. The older plastic version Amaruk was different. The Amaruk Bow Hatch Cover measures approximately 13.25 long wide x 15.25 inches long. Cover is peaked, 2 inches measured from a flat surface. This is about one inch less than the Classic Peaked Bow Hatch above.

These types of Necky hatch covers are secured by two hatch straps, ropes for older kayaks, that could be replaced with straps for greater ease and car top security. The addition of a keeper strap or cord, from hard cover to deck, will prevent normal loss and is recommended if your kayak is not already outfitted with such. 1 foot of 1 inch webbing strap, 2 5/8 machine Screw, 2 cap nuts and 2 ¾ washers can be used to make a keeper strap. Alternatively you can 5mm deck line to duplicate the older configuration.

NKY-07-3271-0000.jpgThe Necky Eliza Hatch Cover is no longer available. It was for the plastic (polymer) roto-molded Eliza sea-touring kayak. This was the hard outer cover for a double hatch system. The Necky No. 3 neoprene hatch cover must be used under it to form a water tight seal. The outer hatch (07.3231.000) secures with Cross Lock Hatch Straps. Cover was 16.5 x 10.75 inches, approximately 1 inch deep.

Stern Outer Hard Hatch Cover for the Necky Manitou 13. TKN-759-MAN2-B.jpg Found on the the original version Necky Manitou, made 2010 and before, that was outfitted with the double cover system. Might also fit the Necky Manitou 14. Secured with a two hatch straps. Cover measures 17.5 x 13.25 inches OD. Hatch cover is from a recently discovered hoard. Expect some cosmetic blemishes.

The corresponding neoprene fabric cover must be used in combination with hard covers like this in order for the hatch to function properly.
